Focus

The Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University in Košice was founded as the successor of the Military Aviation Academy gen. M.R. Štefánika in Košice and for more than 15 years, in addition to education for aviation engineers, pilots and other aviation personnel, it has also been active in the field of development and research. As part of research activities, more than 50 national and international projects were successfully solved at the faculty, from which more than 200 outputs were published, registered in the Current Contents Connect (CCC), Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases, and more than 30 patents were filed, and utility models.

Main areas of research:

  • Sensory and object security involving the development of special sensors and electronic systems according to specific user requirements, including sensors based on magnetic microwires and analog and digital signal processing circuits.
  • UAV detection, on-board electronics, magnetic measurements, signal processing and visualization
  • Aviation safety, human performance, modeling and analysis of aircraft operations and flight procedures.
  • Search and Rescue.
  • Environmental safety, the use of UAVs for the detection of dangerous gases, monitoring of air quality in industrial or risky areas.
  • Measurement and analysis of radiation characteristics of aircraft antennas in operation or in a special attenuation chamber.
  • Air transport management and the human factor in the air traffic control system.
  • Computer aided design, manufacturing, calculations and simulations, design and manufacture of molds for plastic components and prototyping using 3D printing and NC machines, creation. CAD/CAM models also using a 3D scanner.
  • Space technologies with an emphasis on the development of magnetic sensors and actuators for CubeSat-class satellites, sensor calibration and analysis using statistical and neural network algorithms. Among the latest activities in this area is cooperation on the design and testing of various structural elements of nanosatellites.
