Department of Air Transport Management
The Department of Air Transport Management provides teaching of subjects specializing in management of air transport businesses, economics, operation and safety in air transport, issues of the human factor, law and informatics in air management specializations.
It guarantees university education provided:
- In the 1st stage of university education in the Air Transport Management bachelor study program in the specialization Air Transport Management and Air Transport Security
- In the 2nd stage of university education in the engineering study program Air Transport Management in the specialization Management in Air Transport and Safety and Security Protection in Air Transport
- In the 3rd stage of university education in the doctoral study program Air Transport Management
It carries out scientific and research activities in the field of selected issues of air transport management with an emphasis on airline management and marketing, economic aspects of airlines, issues of organization of activities and airport logistics, air traffic safety and information systems in air traffic management.

History of the department
The Department of Air Transport Management was established on September 1, 2004 as one of the scientific and pedagogical departments of the Institute of Aeronautics during the merger of the General M.R. Štefánik Military Aviation Academy with the Technical University of Košice according to the Act No. 455/2004 Coll. and Act No. 131/2002 Coll. about universities.
After the completion of the transformation process on February 1, 2005, it became part of the Faculty of Aeronautics. The employees of the department have many years of experience in the training of civil and military aviation specialists, pilots and other members of the air force in the field of air traffic management, since the MLP Department was transformed from the Department of Operational and Combat Use of Aviation - its predecessor, which was part of the Military Aviation Academy in Košice.
